Tomorrow's a "Yellow Day" , it is the "Big Day"
"Please wear or carry anything yellow tomorrow September 9 Wednesday to demonstrate your support for the movement to prod Noynoy Aquino to run for president. Thanks".
This is my last post in facebook and twitter today, obviously I am one of his supporters. And I can't describe exactly what I am feeling now as tomorrow comes, the big announcement, will he respond to the call of the Filipino people? Well I am optimistic that I will be hearing the words I'd like to hear, "Yes I am going to run".
Why am I supporting Sen. Noynoy? First and foremost, I have so much respect and admiration for his parents, Sen. Ninoy and Pres. Cory. I am a people power child, I was seven when Ninoy died. At first, I had no idea who really was, why was he killed, why people were crying and why were there so many people marched on his funeral. I thought maybe he was just so "sikat". Then I was ten when Edsa I happened. Little by little I was starting to understand what was really happening, people were crying for change, for freedom! And then I've come to realize the sacrifices Sen Ninoy made and how Pres. Cory brought hope to our nation. From then on, I've learned to love our country and be a guardian of our democracy.
Today, Sen. Noynoy is not just carrying the legacy of the "Aquino's" but indeed, he is carrying the values and principles his parents had instilled in him. I think that's what make him different and from the other aspirants, (he is not aspiring in the first place, people are urging him to run), he has genuine love for the country, willing to serve the people (and not to be served), unselfishly devoting himself for people, God fearing, and most of all, he is a man of integrity.
Just like his father, may he awaken the Filipino people again in fighting for freedom and democracy. And just like his mother, may he bring hope and unity again to this country.
As I am writing this, it is already Sept. 9th. In few hours, a big decision that might change our lives will be announced. And as I've said, I'm optimistic that I will be hearing the words I'd like to hear..."Yes, I am running". Today is a "Yellow Day" and I know today will be a "Big Noynoy Day".
